Welcome to ReelCut

ReelCut ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Android mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By downloading, installing, or using ReelCut, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our Service.

We comply with Google Play Developer Program Policies and applicable data protection laws.

✦ Plain-language summary ReelCut is a template-based video editing app. All your video editing happens on your device. We collect minimal data needed to provide the service, we do not sell your personal data, and you can delete your account at any time.

02 — Data We Collect

What We Gather

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the ReelCut experience.

Account Info

Name, email address, and profile picture when you sign in with Google.

Device Info

Device model, Android version, app version, and language preference.

Usage Data

Templates browsed, features used, and general app interaction patterns.

Advertising ID

Your device advertising identifier, used to serve relevant ads via Google AdMob.

⚠ What we do NOT collect We do not access your contacts, call logs, SMS, precise GPS location, or any biometric data. Your photos and videos are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

03 — How We Use Data

Putting Your Data to Work

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  1. To authenticate your account via Google Sign-In and sync your preferences.
  2. To serve and manage video templates, categories, and featured content.
  3. To display ads through Google AdMob and support the free version of the app.
  4. To track app usage via Firebase Analytics and improve features based on what creators use most.
  5. To send important service updates and in-app notifications.
  6. To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
✦ On-Device Processing All image and video processing is performed locally on the user’s device (using technologies like ML Kit) and is not uploaded to our servers. Your photos and videos never leave your phone unless you choose to share or export them.

04 — Data Sharing

Who Sees Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data to third parties. We share limited data only with the following. Third-party services may process data according to their own privacy policies.

⚠ Data Sharing Disclosure We share data with Google (AdMob, Firebase) and Razorpay for ads, analytics, authentication, and payments.
  • SDK Data Mapping: To be fully transparent about third-party services, here is exactly what data is processed:
    • AdMob → ads + Advertising ID
    • Firebase → analytics + crash reporting
    • Google Sign-In → name/email
    • Razorpay → payments
    • ML Kit → on-device processing
  • Google Sign-In: When you sign in using Google, basic profile information such as name and email is shared with us for account authentication.
  • Razorpay: We use Razorpay to process payments securely. Razorpay may collect billing details such as email and phone number for transaction processing.
  • Google (Firebase & AdMob): We use Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, and template delivery. Google AdMob serves ads within the app. Google’s privacy policy applies to data they process.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
  • With Your Consent: We may share data with third parties only when you have expressly authorized us to do so (e.g., sharing a video to social media).

05 — Data Storage & Security

Keeping Your Data Safe

Your edited videos, drafts, and media files are stored locally on your device. Account information and app preferences are stored securely via Firebase.

  • All network communication uses HTTPS encryption.
  • Authentication is handled securely through Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0).
  • Template files are cached locally to reduce data usage and improve performance.
  • We do not store your photos or videos on any server.
✦ Data Retention Account data is retained as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion, all associated data is completely removed from our systems within 7–30 days. Analytics and crash data may be retained by third-party services such as Firebase as per their data retention policies. Locally stored files on your device are not affected by account deletion.

06 — Ads & Tracking

Advertising & Analytics

⚠ Ads Disclosure Third-party ad partners like Google AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data. Users can control ad personalization through their device settings.

ReelCut is a free app supported by advertising. We use the following third-party services:

  • Google AdMob: Serves ads within the app. AdMob may use your advertising ID to show personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device’s Google settings.
  • Firebase Analytics: Helps us understand how the app is used, which templates are popular, and where crashes occur. Data is collected in aggregate and anonymized form.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: Automatically collects crash reports to help us fix bugs and improve stability.

You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads at any time via your Android device settings (Settings → Google → Ads).

07 — Your Rights

You’re In Control

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to Rectify

Correct any inaccurate data in your account profile.

Right to Erase

Delete your account and all associated data from our systems.

Opt-Out of Ads

Disable personalized advertising via your Android device settings.

08 — Children’s Privacy

Protecting Young Creators

This app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age.

⚠ Parental Notice If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at support@reelcut.in. We will delete the information promptly.

09 — Policy Changes

Staying Up to Date

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
  • Notify users through the app for any significant changes.

Your continued use of ReelCut after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
